Each restaurant featured on the website is assigned two ratings that together make up the LUNCHBOX RATINGS: a "MetaLunchbox" and the "LA Lunchbox" rating. The MetaLunchbox rating represents a "conventional" wisdom, a calculation of a weighted average of calibrated scores assigned by over six respected restaurant rating agencies covering the Los Angeles area. It’s what the critics think.
The LA Lunchbox rating is what we think - a rating assigned by our team of restaurant reviewers. On any restaurant rating, we have a description of the restaurant with the Lunchbox ratings side by side. We want you to research each restaurant and make your own informed decision by seeing what the conventional, critics’ scores are, then compare it against what we think.
LUNCHBOX RATINGS range from a scale of 1-10, with a 10 indicating excellent overall reviews, and lower scores indicating less favorable reviews from critics. Sorry, Los Angeles restaurants, we haven’t met a 10 yet. By the way, LUNCHBOX RATINGS is not affiliated with any restaurant, catering, or food service company; nor do we directly sell any of the products reviewed on our site.
We certainly have advertisers, and some of them may very well be restaurants, but we’d be stupid to allow them to affect the LUNCHBOX RATING or our unbiased reviews of products and restaurants. Our goal is to provide completely impartial information about the restaurants and products you’ll find on our site, so that you may make an informed decision when deciding what to eat and where to dine.
LUNCHBOX RATINGS does not take user input but email us at questions@lalunchbox.com, and tell us whether you agree with the ratings or vehemently disagree with our critiques. Read more about how we came up with the ratings on our Disclaimer page.
